Fwix is a local news site designed to show you the most recent and relevant information in your area. Our mission is to provide people with the best possible news and the tools necessary to spread this news to the people they care about.
We do not scrape content, we only provide and analyze content that has been deemed "fair use" by US Copyright Law. We do not intend to scrape content and if you feel as though there is content on Fwix that has been scraped without providing proper credit to the content producer, please notify us immedately at: content@fwix.com.
Our service is designed to help journalists, bloggers, and content producers of all types get the credit they deserve for producing good quality local content. Every article on Fwix provides proper credit to the content producer and sends traffic directly to the actual content piece. We do not scrape content and only provide a "smart" directory of the most recent and relevant content to your local area.
Since we are sending traffic directly to the content producer, advertisements on the original articles are generating revenue only for the content producer. By sending more traffic to the best articles, we are effectively increasing revenue for content producers.
Fwix currently supports more than 80 cities in the US, the UK, and Canada.
Fwix allows you to connect your Facebook or Twitter account to Fwix for the purposes of easily sharing the local articles you like and also to comment on the posts you want to discuss with other people in your city. Additionally, you are able to build your own profile page with the stories you like or break to others. In the future, you'll be able to do much more with your account on Fwix.
You can submit your blog or feed to Fwix by adding your feed link in the "Add my blog" box on the front page of Fwix in the lower right hand pane. Submissions are approved by our staff so please allow a few days for your feed to be approved.
Fwix reindexes content continuously and search results are as real-time as possible.
We do not share your personal information with third parties. While we might use information in aggregate about posts that are popular and aggregate trend data, we do not sell or use personally identifiable information in any way. Our name has no meaning at all. We like it because it is short and easy to remember.
Trending topics are the most popular topics or phrases that are in your city right now. Trending topics are made popular by the number of clicks an article gets or if several journalists are writing about that particular topic in your city. You can view your city's trending topics here.
The Fwix iPhone application allows you to report stories while you're on the go. If you see something noteworthy in your city, open the Fwix application and take a picture to have it appear on Fwix. Reports will also be automatically posted to Facebook or Twitter depending on the account you are signed in with. You can download the Fwix iPhone Application here.
